June 1 – Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord
The Ascension is not the end of the Bible—it’s the moment Jesus says, “Now it’s your turn.”
Why does this matter to you? Because Jesus didn’t ascend just to reign in Heaven. He rose to bring you with Him. He returned to the Father so the Holy Spirit could come—and ignite the Church, including you.
As St. Augustine reminds us, “The Head is in heaven, but He has not separated Himself from His members on earth.” Jesus, our Head, has gone ahead to heaven—and we, the Body, are meant to follow. Not just into heaven someday, but into mission today.
Too many of us remain learners—content to receive but not yet ready to go. But Jesus didn’t say “sit and absorb.” He said “Go and make disciples.” That means inviting others under your wing, like Paul did for Timothy. You don’t need a theology degree—you need love, intentionality, and boldness.
Discipleship isn’t passive. It’s personal, relational, and outward-looking.
So ask yourself:
Who are you intentionally mentoring in faith right now?
And who is helping you grow into the disciple you’re called to be?
This is your mission. You were not baptized to be a bystander. You were filled with the Spirit to set fires, not guard ashes. The Church needs your “yes.”

La Ascensión no es el final de la Biblia; es el momento en que Jesús dice: “Ahora te toca a ti.”
¿Por qué esto es importante para ti? Porque Jesús no ascendió solo para reinar en el Cielo. Él resucitó para llevarte con Él. Regresó al Padre para que el Espíritu Santo pudiera venir—y encender la Iglesia, incluyéndote a ti.
Como nos recuerda San Agustín: “La Cabeza está en el cielo, pero no se ha separado de sus miembros en la tierra.” Jesús, nuestra Cabeza, ha ido al cielo antes que nosotros; y nosotros, el Cuerpo, estamos llamados a seguirle. No solo al cielo algún día, sino a la misión hoy.
Muchos de nosotros seguimos siendo aprendices: estamos contentos de recibir pero aún no estamos listos para salir a ser discipulos. Pero Jesús no dijo “siéntate y consume.” Dijo “Vayan y hagan discípulos.” Eso significa invitar a otros bajo tu ala, como lo hizo Pablo con Timoteo. No necesitas un título en teología; necesitas amor, intencionalidad y valentía.
El discipulado no es pasivo. Es personal, relacional y pone la mirada hacia afuera.
Así que pregúntate:
¿A quién estás guiando intencionalmente en la fe en este momento?
¿Quién te está ayudando a crecer como el discípulo que estás llamado a ser?
Esta es tu misión. No fuiste bautizado para ser un espectador. Fuiste lleno del Espíritu para encender fuegos, no para custodiar cenizas. La Iglesia necesita tu “sí.”
