Magi Ministry

Giving to others as the Magi gave to our Lord

On coming to the house, they saw the child with his Mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Matthew 2:11

About Magi Ministry

St. Ann Magi Ministry provides gifts to those in our community who would not otherwise have a gift at Christmas. Through Magi, we fulfill the parish mission to love God completely, love others unconditionally, and make disciples intentionally.

Magi started over 30 years ago by giving just 100 gifts to people who would have gone without at Christmas. The ministry has been embraced and grown to be a very important part of our parish’s Christmas. Together, we will provide over 3,400 children, seniors, the ill, seminarians, and families receive what is most likely their only Christmas gifts through the generosity of our parish members.

Magi has been a wonderful Christmas tradition for many families to select the ornament that means something to them.

Starting the weekend before Thanksgiving, we will have ornaments with gift requests from children in our St. Ann community, the residents of Hillcrest and Ewing Houses, as well as the children from Blessed Sacrament available in the Narthex.

For the remaining gifts the Magi Ministry provides, we will need your financial donations to purchase the requested items from the agencies we serve.

A Few Things About

Each Magi Gift:

  • This gift is a blessing. It is treasured and special. For many, it is the only gift they will receive. Each individual - or their parent - provides us with requested items. Magi provides us the opportunity to be like Christ. We want the recipients to feel the love of Christ and know they are heard in their requests.

  • Return unwrapped gifts to Mass by December 8. We will have collection bins at each of the entrances. Gift bags and wrapping paper are great, but please do not wrap the gifts. The final day to return the unwrapped gifts will be December 8, 2024, by 7 pm.

  • A donation is a great Christmas gift too! You can give in honor or in memory of someone. The donations will be used to purchase gifts for other agencies as well as gifts not returned.

For questions on a gift tag, please call (972) 304-8545 ext. 1880 and leave a message. Someone will return your call within 24 hours.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

  • Give a Gift

You can bless the those who are struggling. Select Magi ornaments on trees in the Narthex that you/your family can pray over and provide the requested gift(s).

Please return all gifts by 7PM on December 8.

  • Volunteer

We need hundreds of volunteers every year to make Magi happen. Please consider volunteering for one of the following below.

  • Make a Monetary Donation

Many gifts will need to be purchased. We suggest $40-50 per person or $200 or more to support an entire family. Donations may be made “in honor” or “in memory of” someone you love.

  • Pray For Us and Who We Serve

We hope you will join us in praying for the people that are served through Magi. We also ask for your prayers for Magi to reach our financial goal. We pray for you and your family in the spirit of the Magi.
